Kaliya Warren is an award-winning director who combines visual spectacle with well-drawn character studies. She was a top-five finalist for Tribeca and AT&T’s Untold Stories competition, and her pitch for her feature script Expatriates received the $50k Fan Favorite Award. Her short Couples Skate recently premiered at HBO’s American Black Film Festival, and her dance film Revelation premiered as part of IFC’s Short Attention Span Cinema Series.
Warren directed the promo campaign for Sony’s One of Them Days starring Keke Palmer and SZA, and produced by Issa Rae. She served as Director of Photography on two spots for Vice President Kamala Harris and her 2024 presidential campaign, and as the Series BTS Director for Disney's and Lucasfilm’s Obi-Wan Kenobi. Previously, she was the Director of Photography for HBO and Issa Rae’s feature documentary, Insecure: the End.
Warren’s commercial clients have included Vogue, Vanity Fair, and Delta Air Lines. She has directed work across four continents, from Tanzania to the Philippines. She received her BFA in Film & Television from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and is a member of IATSE Local 600, International Cinematographers Guild.
